This past weekend, my husband and I went to Poland to see some history at Auschwitz Concentration Camp along with spending the evening in Krakow, Poland. The Auschwitz experience was very somber and sad. I almost cried a few times, and left there with a heavy heart, mind and soul. It was indescribable and some of the sentences that the tour guide said, I never want to repeat with my own mouth.
After that gloomy experience, we got to taste what Poland had to offer. Being that we are both from Pennsylvania, we have some background knowledge of Polish delights. Pierogies being one of them, we eat our feelings for sure and then headed to Krakow.
Krakow was beyond beautiful. I have just visited Prague a few weeks ago, and in my opinion, Krakow is the more beautiful, cleaner version of Prague. It was definitely kept very well preserved, despite all of it's history We had such a great time. We enjoyed shopping at the famous Sukiennice, which is an "indoor" market in the city center. They were selling everything Poland is famous for, fur, amber, and beautifully handsewn doilies mostly.
They weather was even perfect. I was prepared for the worst, but actually didn't turn out to be too bad. I wore an all black outfit except for my neutrals in my accessories. I knew it wasn't going to be exactly spring in a country so far north, so I didn't want to risk being the only person, better yet the only American standing out in bright spring colors.
As for my Mcqueen scarf!!! I got an amazing steal, deal, whatever on it! I went to a local consignment shop in a nearby town called Pordenone and it was just sitting there in perfect condition at about a third of the price of a brand new one! Lucky me!
