A Day in Venice

I really enjoy the city of Venice. It's beautiful. The city itself is a work of art. It's amazing that an entire city is built on water that twists and turns its way through all of the buildings. My husband, Joe and I went down on the first day of Carnivale. Carnivale is like another version of Mardi Gras. There are a ton of people, there are little fried like donut things and people dress up, but there is zero to no beads/things to do with beads.

Venice Carnivale is definitely an interesting sight because their version of dressing up is for young children to be in Halloween costumes and for teenagers and older they wear a version of the traditional masks. By looking at Venice you can tell it was a very medieval city. This is the idea they still keep when it comes to their costumes.

I love going to Venice to go shopping because it has some great stores to do so at. I am currently running low on my Holy Grail of all beauty products which is soon to make an appearance in it's own blog post. It is by Lush Cosmetics and they have one in Venice, which obviously meant I NEEDED to go to restock annddddd buy a few more items.

When I go to a larger city, I try to look more Italian than America, just to pretend that I'm not a tourist, even though all the guys that I was with screamed, an "I'm not from here" kind of vibe. It's okay I forgive them. Anywho, I wore my purple tights, my leather skater skirt, a black chunky knit sweater to stay warm. My H&M coat, cream knee high boot socks from H&M  and knitted cream scarf also helped in keeping me a bit warmer because we were literally on an island surrounded by cold water all day.

I realized I have never taken a picture of the Venetian Masks although I have been to Venice well over ten times. So here is a google image to give you an idea. If you want to look into it further, just google "venice traditional masks". They wear them for every event (NYE, Carnivale) and even when their isn't an event happening in this amazing city.
